Questionnaire send through social media
1 adults over 18 years
2 Excluding children and individuals not residing in Saudi Arabia
Food diary about added sugar daily record
Sugars that are added to foods as ingredients during preparation
Processing or at the table
Added sugars do not include naturally occuring sugars such as
Lactose present in milk and fructose present in whole fruit or
Cut fruit and 100% fruit juice
1163 respodents included in study

The sudys aim is to assess added sugar intake among adults in Saudi Arabia
1163 respodents included in study. Overall added sugar average 73 grams
/Day (83 gram/day and 66grams men and women respectively.
Present study has shown that non Saudis have higher sugar in take than saudies
Saudi Arabia .
This finding could be due to the fact Saudi Arabia hosts more
than 10 million
Mostly of Indian syriyan Saudis and Pakistani nationals.
Those Nations are known to consume higher sugar or due to the cultural food

Baclava
Gulab jamun
Jelebi
Etc
Sugar consumption was significantly lower in educated groups
Conclusion: The total intake of added sugar is extremely
High in Saudi Arabia.
