Corona Smoking Relation
In 1604 James described Tobacco
As 'Hateful to the nose ,harmful to the brain
And dangerous to the lungs:'
Lung cancer pneumonia Asthma COPD chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are common among smokers.
Let us therefore understand Corona relation to smoking .
Corona virus or Covivid 19 virus enters through nostrils or mouth and passes through
Trachea wind pipe to alveoli ( it looks like a bunch of grapes ) alveoli are air sacs filled with gasses. Alveoli is plural single air sac is called
Alveolus .It has internal wall like structure also called membrane or a wall made up of two types of cells 1) Type 1 Pnumocyte which work as gas exchanger oxygen is handed over to Red Blood Cells and carbon dioxide from RBC
Is taken for disposal via trachea.
2) Type 2 Pnumocyte they act as surfactant ie preventing alveoli collapse.
It is usual social experience when on birth day air filled balloon when collapse children cry.
But it is easy to refill balloon but once our ir sacs collapse it'd a serious issue.
Ok we know corona virus is interested in winning situation so corona is not just happy
To just stand in side but interested in entering wall cells and that to surfactant functioning cell Type 2 Pnumocyte
Let us understand this above cell is having a receptor or door called ACE 2
Through this door virus enters and removes it's RNA and via Ribosome machinary gets virus copies like a Xerox machine corona uses
Host machinery to multiply grow .Finaly
Host immune system try to attack virus but
As surfactant function is lost cells collapse immune system attacks their own cells finally oxygen is reduced patient needs oxygen in few patients some may require ventilators.
Having understood this a collapse of balloon of alveoli
Let us compare what happens if corona patient is smoker in a smoker patient Ace2 doors increase it is called upregulation this is golden opertunity for virus as many doors are open for virus.
Therefore smoking is not good as it helps the Corona enemy .
