Obesity affects>2Billion Population

 Obesity Currently Affects >2Billion

People nearly 30% Of the world Population

Let us know what is BMI
It is a ratio of weight in kg divided by
Height in meter square

Normal Range of BMI is 18.5 to 24.9

Over weight :when BMI range crosses 24.9

From 25 to 29.9

For Obesity BMI should  be ≥30

Current population of USA BMI is 27.7

Historical records  :indicate that humans

 have beenIncreasing their BMI

continuously for past 300 years.

The economist R.Fogel 's tracked relationship

Between body size and productivity from 1700s.

Through the use of data from healthier populations
In economical advanced countries at that time.

Fogel's   last data point from 1975 is almost BMI= 25,So one could

Take approximately that year as the begining of he epidemic of
Excess weight .Certainly one should not over interupt Fogel's
Data on their own.but most other historical views on the topic
Are constltent in recognising this long journey of humans
From scarcity to mass food consumption.

In the USA reversing the obesity epidemic would entail
Moving the median BMI distribution of the population
From its current BMI 27.8.   To 22.

Even allowing for 5 to 10% of the population with excess
BMI that gap seems substantial.

  Excess BMI and disease:

Global Obesity>2Billion

Including over weight and obese ie every one with BMI ≥25
But >60%of the disease and mortality burden is associated with Excess
BMI  30

Following Table Risk Factors and Reduction in life expectancy

The above  Table
Is self explanatory

Diabetes & Hidden Friends

              Diabetes and Hidden Friends

Diabetes friends

Let's name bread biscuits mostly

In product details please refer added

Sugar generally it is expressed/100grams

Eg Bread which contains approximately

5grams added sugar per 100gram bread

20 grams Added sugar per 400grams

Bread

Let us take eg

If you use 4 slices in the morning break fast you are consuming

5000mg added sugar which has

a power to raise blood sugar

To 200mg%

How? Simple 5000mg sugar will enter 5000 cc blood

So increase blood sugar could increase by 100mg

If beta cells go on strike.

Similarly calculate for

Biscuits where added sugar is much higher

Please note just for simplicity

 sugar is calculated as glucose

Other wise it is a combination of

Fructose and Glucose in 1:1 ratio.

The Impact of free sugar In Human Health

 The Impact of free sugar

             InHuman Health

 Specifically Obesity ,Diabetes

and cardiovascular disease,cognition and mood
Non Communicable diseases are chronic and presentable
Conditions such as  diabetes ,kidney disease ,cancer and mental
Health disorders.
NcDs accounts around 74%of deaths globally and place an enormous financial
Burden on health care services and households ,
Lifestyle style factors such as weight diet physical activity, are
Major major contributing factors to preventable disease.
Obesity is an increasing global health concern occuring in
13% of the world population and is considered a major risk
Factor NCDs morbidity and reduced quality of lifestyle changes
Such as improved diet for prevention of Obesity ,diabetes ,
Heart disease and cognitive decline .

Studies investing the impact of sugar consumption on human health
Have ongoing since mid 20th century.

Excessive Sugar Consumption has been

Implicated in obesity , metabolic

Disorders diabetes cardiovascular disease ,Cancer depression

,and cognitive impairment.

         Trends in  sugar consumption

The association of fat with cardiovascular disease and Obesity
 in the mid to late
20 th century let to the reduction in fat consumption and an increase in carbohydrates
and refined sugars  .High -fructose corn syrup accounted for less than
1%.   Of caloric sweetners in 1970s but  increased to 42%. By 2000.

Estimated total sugar intake between 1977 to 1998

Increased from 235 to 318 Cal kal per day.

According to food availability data ,added sugars and sweetners
Reached peak of 69kg per person per year in USA in 1999.
These changes in diet coincided with dramatic rise in obesity

Diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Added sugars refer to sugars that are added

In food preparation or manufacturing ,such as glucose and Fructose

,sucrose (asugar molecule made from glucose and fructose combined)

And hydrogenated starch hydrolysates (high fructose corn syrup)

WHO :Free sugars that are naturally present in honey

Fruit juices and syrups.

US Department Of Agriculture noted reduction in

Added sugars and sweetners by 14%

between 1999and 2014.

                                       Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease most commonly associated with

Sugar consumption  .

Majority of research conducted has found a positive asoociation

Between sugars particularly fructose and SSB( Sugar Sweetened Beverages)

consumption and Risk for Type 2diabetes.

Several animal human studies  have observed impaired
Insulin signling and increased fasting glucose and insulin resulting
From SSB consumption .
The association has been particularly evidence in women but
Not a!ways in male cohorts .
