Obesity affects>2Billion Population

 Obesity Currently Affects >2Billion

People nearly 30% Of the world Population

Let us know what is BMI
It is a ratio of weight in kg divided by
Height in meter square

Normal Range of BMI is 18.5 to 24.9

Over weight :when BMI range crosses 24.9

From 25 to 29.9

For Obesity BMI should  be ≥30

Current population of USA BMI is 27.7

Historical records  :indicate that humans

 have beenIncreasing their BMI

continuously for past 300 years.

The economist R.Fogel 's tracked relationship

Between body size and productivity from 1700s.

Through the use of data from healthier populations
In economical advanced countries at that time.

Fogel's   last data point from 1975 is almost BMI= 25,So one could

Take approximately that year as the begining of he epidemic of
Excess weight .Certainly one should not over interupt Fogel's
Data on their own.but most other historical views on the topic
Are constltent in recognising this long journey of humans
From scarcity to mass food consumption.

In the USA reversing the obesity epidemic would entail
Moving the median BMI distribution of the population
From its current BMI 27.8.   To 22.

Even allowing for 5 to 10% of the population with excess
BMI that gap seems substantial.

  Excess BMI and disease:

Global Obesity>2Billion

Including over weight and obese ie every one with BMI ≥25
But >60%of the disease and mortality burden is associated with Excess
BMI  30

Following Table Risk Factors and Reduction in life expectancy
In years

Risk Factors

Reduction In Life expectancy (years)

Current Smoking

4.8

Diabetes Mellitus

3.9

Physical Inactivity

2.4

Low Socio Economic Satus

2.1

Hypertension

1.6

Obesity

0.7

The above  Table
Is self explanatory
First columan shows aist of risk factors and second  column reduction in life expectancy in years.
