We will study if Raisins are healthy? Raisins
are
dried grapes . We need to know about the glycemic index or GI  of dried grapes the Raisins .

Raisins are sweet as they consist of 60%sugar predominately fructose and glucose which gives rise to common conception that are unhealthy.
However they are rich in dietary fiber (3.3-4.5gms) per 100gms. Which contribute to pre biotic effect as they are selectively used by host microorganisms and confer a healthy benefit.

During the process of Raisins ,the dehydration process converts part of the grapes sugar into fructan ,a form of fiber.

Raisins show excellent anti oxidants capacity.

Raisins have a low to moderate GI .Overa all reported GI values range 49to 69 .Fructose
which is most abundant sugar in Raisins ,seems to be responsible for these index values since it has a low GI of 15+_4.

Raisins are good choice both for diabetes
And healthy individuals since they  have low to moderate GI.

Raisins consumption before a meal could be favourable for regulating appetite in normal weight healthy subjects.
