Lung Cancer

    Lung Cancer 

Lung cancer is the most frequent  cancer and
Leading cause of cancer death worldwide .

              Types

     1)Small Cell Lung  Cancer (SCLC)

           15% of Lung Cancer

      2) Non Small Cell Lung Carcinomas

           (NSCLC) 85%of all lung cancer 

                           NSCLC sub Types

           1.    Squamous Cell Carcinoma

            2 Adenocarcinoma (AD)     

             3 Large Cell Carcinoma(LCC)

             Five year survival 

            SCLC  if limited disease

               30% 5 Year survival For extensive 

Disease SCLC 10% survival for 5years

               NSCLC     survival foR 5 years

Depends on the spread of cancer

Stage1 A survival 90 %

Stage 4  survival below

 10% for 5years.

Risk factors for Lung Cancer

1 Cigarette  smoking being a major factor.

2   Up to 20% of cancer deaths world wide

      Could be prevented by tobacco smoking  Elimination.

3  At least 50 carcinogens has been identified
     In Tobacco smoking.

4    Global statistics indicates  that Lung
        Cancer In Never Smoked (LCINS)
         Accounts for 20% of Lung Cancer
        At least 17% of  LCNS are attributable

     To exposure to high level of environmental
Tobacco Smoke (ETS) or to second hand smoke
 

         24% excess risk for lung

      Cancer is found in non smokers who lives with smoker .

5 The incidence of  lung cancer without
   Tobacco smoking history is increasing.
   The polluted air especially particulate
 Matter 2.5 (PM2.5)has been indicated
As the major factor for LCNS incidence.
